Strategy 1 (High-cost strategy) My first strategy would include an open house with light hors d’eouvres for the community. The community open house will begin by a large public relation effort which include a media blitz along with invitations to area businesses for the open house. We will include descriptive flyers in neighborhoods, letters to parents and personal contacts with major corporations within the community. As part of the agenda, representatives of the school would include core curriculum, co-curriculum, athletic department, and school personnel. Mia Nguyen would be the corporate representative for neighborhood businesses. The purpose of the strategy is to open dialogue with the community to get some sort of perspective of the needs for the community. It would also introduce the schools initiative in becoming an active participate in working with the community in fulfilling those needs with the help of local businesses and begin to formulate committees with representatives from the community, school programs, businesses, and faculty.
Strategy 2 (Medium-cost strategy) This strategy will include efforts of school programs and Walgreens Pharmacy. A board of student representatives and Walgreens area managers from the Jackson Metro area will combine their efforts to create a collaborative community project throughout the school year. Walgreens currently has four community leaders from Jackson vicinity that work with the community in a variety of neighborhood events. The project will consist of partnering with these community leaders and strategize efforts that will make a bigger impact in the community with the help of our student body.
Strategy 3 (Low-cost strategy) This strategy will consist of incorporate efforts of in-school programs that currently have a component of community projects as part of their goal and objective bylaws. As part of my project, I will combine the efforts of each program and create a collaborative community project throughout the school year as with strategy one and two.
